Privacy Policy

Thank you for using Adblock Podcast!

Adblock Podcast respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Adblock Podcast collects, uses, and transfers your information, and how you can control the use of the information that Adblock Podcast collects.

The privacy policies applies to your use of our website, (adblockpodcast.com), and mobile apps (Adblock Podcast on iOS and Android), collectively referred to as our "Services".

Information We Collect

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so — for example, to provide our Services, to communicate with you, or to make our Services better.

We collect this information from three sources: if and when you provide information to us, automatically through operating our Services, and from outside sources. Let's go over the information that we collect.

Basic account information: We ask for basic information from you in order to set up your account. For example, we require individuals who sign up for a Adblock Podcast account to provide an email address and password. If you create or log in to Adblock Podcast account through another service (like Google) we'll receive associated login information (e.g. a connection token, your username, your email address, your name) We only use this information for authentication and communicating with you--we do not resell it or share it with third parties.

Payment and contact information: There are various ways in which you may provide us payment information and associated contact information. If you buy something from us (e.g. a subscription to a paid plan or additional ad-skips), you'll provide additional personal and payment information like your name, credit card information, and contact information. We also keep a record of the purchases you've made. We use Stripe to process payments and keep track of past purchases, and are careful not to store any credit card information or payment-related contact info elsewhere.

Listening history and other app-specific data: We collect and store user-specific data related to core app functionality like the podcasts episodes that you've favorited, listend to recently, saved for later, or downloaded. This is necessary to store so that you can use the app across multiple devices and not lose your place. We do not resell this information and it is aggregated by podcast and by month before exposing any of it publicly (we must tally it up to know how to fairly distribute payments to podcasters).

Communications with us (hi there!): You may also provide us with information when you respond to surveys, ask a support question or provide feedback, etc. When you communicate with us via form or email, or otherwise, we store a copy of our communications.

Log information: Like most online service providers, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. We collect log information when you use our Services; it helps us debug issues and fix bugs.

Transactional information: When you make a purchase through our Services, we collect information about the transaction, such as product details, purchase price, and the date and location of the transaction.

Usage information: We collect information about your usage of our Services (e.g., page views, podcast searches, etc) along with information about your device (e.g., screen size, name of cellular network, and mobile device manufacturer). We use this information to, for example, provide our Services to you, get insights on how people use our Services so we can make our Services better, and understand and make predictions about user retention.

Location information: We may determine the approximate location of your device from your IP address. We collect and use this information to, for example, calculate how many people visit our Services from certain geographic regions.

Information from cookies & other technologies: We do not use cookies for tracking users. We use a cookie-less privacy friendly solution called Plausible.

How and Why We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve our website, apps, and customer support.

We do not share personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish Adblock Podcast functionality. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as how many people listen to a particular podcast via Adblock Podcast.

We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.

Podcasts audio files are NOT modified by Adblock Podcast. Podcast authors are in charge of hosting their podcast RSS feed and audio/video files. We may store and serve a copy of podcast episodes (protecting the privacy of our users), but we never modify the podcast audio file.

We have no responsibility or liability for their content or activities.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We, therefore, will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We never collect or maintain information from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our service is structured to attract anyone under 13.
